A Model of Collision Perception for Real-Time Animation
نویسندگان
چکیده
A model of human visual perception of collisions is presented, based on twodimensional measures of eccentricity and separation. The model is validated by performing psychophysical experiments. We demonstrate the feasibility of using this model as the basis for perceptual scheduling of interruptible collision detection in a realtime animation of large numbers of visually homogeneous objects. The user's point of fixation may be either tracked or estimated. By using a priority queue scheduling algorithm, perceived collision inaccuracy was approximately halved. The ideas presented are applicable to other tasks where the processing of fine detail leads to a computational bottleneck.

Real Time Virtual Animation Reconstruction Algorithm Based on Perception of Random Human Behavior and Collision Prediction
—In order to expand the application of virtual reality technology in network, game, agriculture, industry and other fields, the generation and reconstruction of virtual animation has been deeply studied. However, under the impact of virtual human randomness and human behavior collision, there are the challenges of reliability and real time in the virtual animation. First of all, the model of h...

Perceptually-Adaptive Collision Detection for Real-time Computer Animation Carol O'Sullivan Supervisor: Dr. Steven Collins The aim of interactive animation systems is to create an exciting and real experience for viewers, to give them a feeling of immersion, of “being there". The tendency in the past has been to attempt to achieve this by matching as closely as possible the physics of the real ...
متن کاملGraceful Degradation of Collision Handling in Physically Based Animation
Interactive simulation is made possible in many applications by simplifying or culling the finer details that would make real-time performance impossible. This paper examines detail simplification in the specific problem of collision handling for rigid body animation. We present an automated method for calculating consistent collision response at different levels of detail. The mechanism works ...

متن کاملCharacter Animation with Decoupled Behaviour and Smart Objects
We present a new method for rapid real time motion planning for human-like animated characters. The animation is controlled by a society of interrelated, communicating components called actions. They arrange themselves into ad-hoc created associations to build a collaborative environment where intelligence is distributed among multiple relatively simple agents. The whole system is capable to so...
